The Specialized Chamonix MIPS Cycling Helmet is a newly updated version of the best-selling Chamonix. Specialized have brought the Chamonix up to date by adding the latest in helmet technology, MIPS. MIPS (Multi-directional Impact Protection System) is designed to protect your head from glancing blows. MIPS allows your helmet to move in a controlled way on impact to absorb some of the force of a crash, reducing the shock to your brain. Once MIPS has absorbed the initial shock the in-moulded helmet shell will then absorb the bulk of the force. Overall this dual system gives you a safer helmet. The Chamonix is a unisex helmet which can be used for all types of cycling. It is popular with commuters but is also used by road cyclists, mountain bikers and people just getting around by bike. The old version of the Chamonix used a one size fits all approach. For the MIPS system to work the helmet needs to have a closer fit so the Chamonix now comes in three different sizes. The medium size is the closest to the old Chamonix.
